William Levick Primary School is a County controlled Co-educational Community Primary School which admits children from pre-rising 5 to 11 years of age.

We deliver a carefully planned and structured curriculum with a well trained and widely experienced staff. In addition to developing language, mathematical, scientific and technological skills we aim to build self-confidence, develop self-reliance and self-discipline, an ability to learn to make decisions and develop the ability to articulate feelings and ideas. We attach great importance to the development of the children's social skills and encourage them to build relationships with other children and adults and be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others.

During the year 2005/2006 we will have approximately 195 children on roll and our maximum planned admission level is 30 pupils at reception. The planned admission level is determined by Department for Education regulations regarding the available floor area teaching space within the school. The maximum number of pupils which the school can accommodate is 210.

All our Key Stage 1 (infant) classes have a planned maximum number of 30 pupils per class.
In order to achieve an equality of class size it is sometimes necessary to split a year group between classes. The criterion for this is usually grouping by age. However, where it is possible to create two parallel classes by mixing two year groups and creating two equally sized and balanced classes this will be an alternative class grouping. The varying numbers of children admitted each year means that class organisation is bound to include mixed age groupings within some classes. This situation is unavoidable though each child is treated as an individual and programmes of work are designed to meet each child's needs and to challenge their abilities to ensure that their potential is realised.

The children have access to ample playing fields and hard play-ground and a wide range of activities are offered by the staff.
