A fantastic picnic adventure in the Derbyshire Dales (Lathkill Dale) for younger children linked to the book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen followed by a ‘bring your own’ family picnic.


Meet: Over Haddon car park

Time: 10.30am - 1.30pm

Charge: £2 per child

Suitable for younger children – approx 3 upwards, although slightly younger & slightly older children than this will enjoy it too.

We will be walking up through the bottom part of Lathkilldale National Nature Reserve exploring different habitats using the poem ‘We’re going On a Bear Hunt’ as a structure as well as looking for our own bear.  We will then have a picnic in a meadow and play some games before retracing our steps back to the car park.  The total walk is about two miles and it is all pushchair accessible.
