The Peel Monument

The Peel Monument
Details

The Peel Monument was erected in 1854 as a tribute to Sir Robert Peel and his repeal of the Corn Laws. Made from gritstone at a cost of £52, it also had a practical use as it housed the first public water pump in the town.
