The Forge Shopping Centre in Dronfield
The Forge is Dronfield's ultimate shopping experience set in superb historical surroundings. The building dates back to the 16th Century and was used as a church house for social gatherings before being split into tenements.
During the Second World War, the Foundry was used to produce cast iron noses for bombs, aluminium parts for searchlights, and bronze bearings for Bren guns during the war, and the steel frame of the conservatory formed the machine shop.
Fantastic original artifacts can still be seen today - the oven from the Bakehouse can be seen outside The Place to Bee, and Winding machinery is visible in the roof of Soft Options.
Far from its original purpose, the Forge is now a beautiful home to fantastic shopping outlets which branch off the central Cafe area and sit snugly in little nooks and crannies - from beautiful clothing and lingerie, to hair and beauty, from fresh flowers to interior design, from health foods & aromatherapy oils to jewellry and gifts, from shoes to handbags, and wedding gifts, there is something for everyone.
Open from Monday to Saturday, you can be sure to enjoy your shopping experience at The Forge.
