Details
St. Andrew’s School opened in 1973 and
was the first purpose-built joint-aided school in the country. It is
supported by the Anglican and Methodist Churches and shares the same
site and buildings complex as St Andrew’s Community Church.
The
Christian ethos of our school is important, and is relevant to
everything that we do. Teaching and worship are non-denominational. We
welcome children from all faiths or none.
Parents as well as children are welcomed into the life of the school. We feel that your child’s education is a partnership between home and school.
At St. Andrew’s, we deliver a
successful broad, balanced, quality curriculum providing opportunities
and success for all our children. We learn together within a caring,
safe and friendly Christian school community where every child matters.
Ours is a happy school where children prosper in a positive nurturing
learning environment. We are . . .
* A school with a real “family feel” - our Thursday Reading Mornings and Friday Family Assemblies are a huge hit with mums and dads!
* Technology-aware - with computers and interactive whiteboards in every classroom
* Healthy - we enter teams in sports tournaments, have extensive outdoor facilities for learning and play, and even “Grow our Own” in our school garden
* International - with links to schools in Bolivia, Nepal, Palestine and Tanzania
* Creative - we turn the school hall into an art gallery once a year to exhibit the children’s work to the public when we celebrate “Big Draw Day”
* A team - staff work with our “hands-on” governors to make sure our children receive the best possible education!

We aim to develop every member of our school community to their full potential as an enthusiastic learner in a Christian, caring environment.
We want our children to grow in confidence by helping them to develop their self-respect and self-motivation, acquiring a set of moral and spiritual values, and to become contributing members of their community.
Some of the ways we do this are by:
• Providing a learning environment which encourages children to attain the highest standards they can
• Ensuring that the curriculum is broad and balanced. “The pupils benefit from an interesting, enriched and well-organised curriculum.” Ofsted inspection, 2011
• Adopting a healthy lifestyle
• Building relationships within our school community
• Nurturing our children within a Christian ethos • Celebrating and developing the creativity within each child
“The school, through its distinctive character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners.” SIAS inspection, 2011
