OPERATION SHOEBOX DEADLINE 6TH DECEMBER!!

OPERATION SHOEBOX DEADLINE 6TH DECEMBER!!
We are once again co-ordinating Christmas Operation Shoebox in our region for the troops in Afganistan.

Regardless of what you feel about Britain's involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq, there is no doubt that our troops should be supported in every way possible.

Operation Shoebox offers you a unique opportunity to help lift spirits and make life a little more bearable for our service men and women.  It is the little, more humane things that make life out there more tolerable, things like deodorant (non aerosol), sweets, razors and wet wipes.  It would be nice if as many people in Dronfield, as possible filled a shoe box to help bring a little cheer to our troops and importantly, let them know that back home in Britain we are thinking of them.

What kinds of things can we put in the boxes?

New packs of...
Cotton boxer shorts, cotton knickers, cotton sports socks (all sizes), Toothbrushes and toothpaste, Lip salve, Small tins of Vaseline (green and yellow), Shaving oils, shaving gels/creams, Disposable razors, Stick/roll-on deodorants (unperfumed),
Small packs of wet wipes, Small baby powder, Foot powder, Shower gels and shampoo sachets, Panty liners and tampons, Pot Noodles, Super Noodles, curry powder, Small tubes of mustard, tubes of condensed milk, Small variety boxes of cereal packs, Small tins of macaroni cheese, ravioli etc. Cup-a-soups.

Lunchbox sizes of…
Cheddar biscuits, Jammy Dodgers, chocolate chip cookies, All varieties of Pringles (large or small packs), Tea bags (all types including fruit teas), coffee sachets (all types), Hot chocolate sachets, Ovaltine sachets, Boiled sweets (all types), Starburst fruit chews, Chewing gum.

Travel size board games, pens (all types), Flip flops, marmite sachets, Cereal bars, Fruit bags or boxes (dried), Hair scrunchies, Nail boards, Combs, Small hand body lotions, Books, DVDs or CDs

And most importantly: a personal message.

Please DO NOT INCLUDE:  AEROSOL CANS (solvents, deodorant etc) or chocolate as this usually melts.

Could you please also tape 2 pound coins to every box to cover Operation Shoeboxes admin costs (transportation and customs declarations).

If you are unable to fill a shoebox, but would still like to help, small donations for small purchases are needed.  100% of the monies raised here goes to buying additional items for boxes.  No-one in the organisation takes a salary we are 100% volunteer run.

Please drop your boxes into us at Agents for Homes/Dronfield Online at 34 Chesterfield Road, Dronfield S18 2XB by 10th December.

Below is a copy of a letter from David Cameron, received at Operation Shoebox in his support of our campaign:

FROM DAVID CAMERON MP

“I am delighted to offer my support for Operation Shoebox, and to all those who are helping to bring Christmas cheer to our Forces serving overseas.

This is a great idea.  No one needs reminding of the professionalism and courage of those serving their country in Afghanistan and elsewhere.  But Operation Shoebox reminds us of the difference we can all make – in however small a way – in improving their quality of life.  This is especially the case as we approach Christmas, when our Servicemen and women will be away from their families and loved ones.

So I would like to wish Operation Shoebox every success”.

Remember – they don’t just need these items at Christmas but all year round.

And finally - THANK YOU ALL!!!
