Details
Lorraine Bonete established her Optician's business on Gorsey Brigg in April 2005 after ten years' experience working in two independent Opticians in Sheffield and in hospital clinics.  Lorraine and her optical advisors, Julie and Christine, are committed to providing the best service possible in eye care and eye wear.

An eye examination is much more than providing clients with glasses - it is a highly professional health check for your eyes.  Lorraine stresses the importance of two-yearly examinations for the majority of customers, however, those people with visual impairment, or with a family history of eye problems should have their eyes checked every year.

The right lenses are essential for providing you with the best possible vision.  Today's lenses are high quality, thin and lightweight.  They can be photochromic, anti-glare, water repellent and scratch resistant.

It is also imperative that children have their eyes examined on a yearly basis, as changes in sight can occur much more frequently in a child.  On average, parents will ensure that their child pays a regular visit to the dentist, but not necessarily to an optometrist, as much as we all appreciate and understand the importance of sight.  Importantly: all eye tests for children are free under the NHS.  Lorraine recommends that you start your children's eye testing from the age of two - and she is well equipped, both as an optician and mum, to carry out the examination in a fun way, using colours and pictures so as not to cause any distress.  There is a wide range of children's frames, from free frames (with an NHS voucher) to designer frames and funky prescription and non-prescription sunglasses (see photos).

If you are looking for specialist sports glasses, you can be sure that Lorraine can provide you with those too, from glasses for athletics, snooker, and even prescription swimming goggles.

There is a designer range of Adidas sunglasses - other optical designer frames include Christan Dior, Valentino, Armani and Pierre Cardin to name but a few.

There is also a wide range of contact lenses, from daily disposables for part-time wear, multi focal, and coloured.  Almost everyone can wear contact lenses, whether just for the occasional social event, for sport or full time.  If you are feeling really way out, you can try Lorraine's range of crazy lenses such as red devil eyes, cats eyes, dollar signs - see photo if you dare!
