It was double delight for Wedding and Portrait photographer Lisa Pitchford (33) at her latest professional awards - winning honours in two prestigious categories.
Lisa’s images won her the titles for best wedding and best family portrait photographer in the regional heats of the Master Photographer’s Association competition – the only full-time body that recognises professional work.
It’s not the first time the Dronfield based photographer has been acknowledged for her beautiful images. Over the last five years she’s won six titles for her wedding and portrait photography and even won another with her pet photography!
Lisa said: “The standard seems to get higher every year and this year was no exception with some truly stunning photographs on display.
“But it’s nice to know the judges just thought I had the edge on my competition as I really feel my wedding selection was some of the best work I’ve ever done.
“It’s great to be recognised by your peers as in an age when there’s a camera on every phone I think it’s really important that quality work is recognised. Your wedding day is unique – a once in a lifetime event – so it’s really important you get those special photos.’’
Lisa won with her wedding selection taken in Tuscany, Italy. It’s not the first time she’s been asked to shoot abroad but the Tuscan countryside really made for some stunning photography.
“The light, the elegance and of course the weather made this a fantastic wedding shoot. But images like the ones I won with can be taken anywhere provided you have a quality photographer behind the lens.’’
Her second award for portraits shows just how far this style has come since the days of those dreaded school photos.
“It’s all about capturing the moment. A glance that can capture the spirit of a person forever,’’ added Lisa.
The MPA judges loved her images describing them as ‘cinematic’ and ‘to die for’ that conveyed feelings in pictures ‘a simply delightful display.’
But Lisa won’t be resting on her laurels. Already busy with this year’s weddings and she’s looking for images for next year’s competition. Although she could still be in line for more honours in 2010 as her photos now go forward to the national MPA competition.
