Details
John Fairest is one of the oldest and most respected funeral directors in the Sheffield region, and were proud to open a second funeral home and chapel of rest on Abbey Lane in 2007.
The reputation of the Fairest family business reaches out to Sheffield, Rotherham, Killamarsh, Chesterfield, Dronfield and beyond.
The funeral home is headed up by director, Wayne Pickering, and is supported by Claire Whitehouse and Janice Mason, who not only look after the day to day administration of the business, but are also trained and qualified in taking care of the deceased, and the needs of the families.
The funeral home was opened by footballing legend, Derek Dooley in August 2007, who sadly died less than 12 months later. However, the final honour was bestowed upon Wayne, when the family requested that the funeral be co-ordinated by John Fairest.
The needs of all faiths and cultures are catered for, including a natural woodland burial for people choosing to be buried in an environmentally friendly way.
Being on the site of a former stone masons, John Fairest is able to offer a full range of monumental work, from supplying new headstones, to restoration, cleaning, and adding inscriptions. Wayne and his team are happy to advise and arrange.
Today more than ever, the wishes of individuals as to what should happen after they have passed on, are of utmost importance. A detailed plan tailored to the client's wishes may be drawn up and pre-paid, to ensure peace of mind and the knowledge that the funeral will be conducted with integrity and the deceased's wishes firmly in mind. Discussions regarding pre-planning arrangements can be conducted either at the funeral home or in the comfort of the client's own home.
Bereavement brings alot of responsibility, with organisation and contacts to make. Losing a loved one brings alot of emotional upheaval. No request is too big or too small for the staff at Abbey Lane. They are best qualified to help and advise on every circumstance and the correct procedures to be followed.
The benefit of having two sites (one on Penistone Road North, Wadsley Bridge, and the Abbey Lane funeral home), is that the deceased can be brought to a chapel of rest which is best suited to the needs of the family. Indeed, the directors often travel some distance to bring loved ones back to Sheffield from further afield, working a 24 hour call out shift.
For further details about any of the above, please call Wayne, Janice or Claire on 0114 2745244.
