HOLIDAY ADVICE

HOLIDAY ADVICE

As the holiday season looms it’s time to re-iterate our summer health advice.

Taking care in the sun will help protect you from skin cancer and signs of premature ageing. 200 new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed every day in the UK, and Melanoma is rising than any other type of deadly cancer.

In as many as 4 out of 5 cases, skin cancer is a preventable disease...

Enjoy the sun safely:

• In sunny weather seek shade between 11am and 3pm.
• Wear sunscreen of at least SPF 15that also provides the UVA protection, and reapply frequently.
• Cover up with clothing and don’t forget to wear a hat that protects you face, ears, and neck.
• Don’t sunbathe or use sunbeds.
• Keep babies out of the sun. Protect older children with SPF 30+, shade and clothing.

A European Health Insurance card (EHIC) entitles you to reduce cost , or sometimes free medical treatment that becomes necessary while you are in an European Economic  Area  (EEA) country or Switzerland. This replaces the old E111. You can apply on-line at www.ehic.org.uk/internet/home.do or by phoning 0845 606 2030

Please remember to enquire about travel immunisations at least two months before departure to ensure you are adequately covered.

A sexually transmitted infection (STI) can be the worst kind of souvenir to bring home, so practice safe sex.
