Heritage Football Tournament - Saturday 31st July

Heritage Football Tournament - Saturday 31st July
Sheffield FC will be staging a Heritage Football Tournament on Saturday 31st July at the BT Local Business Stadium in Dronfield. In a world‘s first, the oldest 3 football clubs in the world will compete in a round-robin tournament. The World‘s First Football Club, Sheffield FC will be playing host to the 2 clubs celebrating their 150th Anniversaries this year, our neighbours Hallam FC and Cray Wanderers FC from Kent.

We were approached by Cray Wanderers FC Chairman, Gary Hillman, to help them celebrate their 150th and we saw it as an ideal opportunity to bring the 3 Clubs together in what is an important year for both Cray and Hallam. Hallam FC are celebrating not only their 150th anniversary, but also the 150th anniversaries of the World’s Oldest Football Match and the World’s Oldest Ground.

The football will kick off at 1pm with each team playing the others in games lasting 30 mins each way. All teams will get 2 hours on the pitch and the opportunity to give all of their squads a good pre-season run out. The fans will also get to see 3 hours of quality football in a historic event. Admission on the day is £6 for adults and £3 concessions.

Sheffield FC Chairman Richard Tims said, “This is a unique event and one which should appeal to every fan of football. No matter who you support, come along and witness this historic day of action. Never before have the 3 Oldest Clubs in the World been together at the same event. It will be a memorable occasion.“
