About the Federation

Since 1971 Dronfield has been twinned with Sindelfingen situated in the State of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. 

The Mayors of the two towns signed the formal partnership document on 2nd October 1981. In the document it is agreed that both towns will undertake to further the relationship between their citizens in all aspects, to contribute their share to the mutual prosperity of the two nations and above all to educate their youths in the spirit of tolerance and mutual understanding.


The objectives of the Dronfield Town Twinning Federation are:

  • To improve, by the promotion and/or organisation of exchange visits to any town abroad with which Dronfield may be linked (twinned), international relationships between Great Britain and other countries and world peace.
  • To assist, be means of grants, advice or any other means, residents of Dronfield, including approved organisations and children attending school in Dronfield, to visit any town abroad with which Dronfield may be linked (twinned).
  • To encourage an expansion of trade between firms in Dronfield and firms situated in any towns abroad with which the area may be linked (twinned).
  • To encourage and/or promote cultural, sporting and other activities between Dronfield and linked or twinned towns abroad, such activities to be consistent with the aims and objectives of the Federation.
