Rugby Mini’s Lead the Pack and Try on New Team Shirt

Rugby Mini’s Lead the Pack and Try on New Team Shirt
A passion for the great outdoors and children’s play has resulted in a perfect partnership between Sheffield based Timberplay and Dronfield RUFC. Natural play specialist Timberplay has given £500 in sponsorship to provide the mini team’s with brand new training t-shirts with the Timberplay logo emblazoned upon them.

It was the ideal partnership as Timberplay are heavily involved with promoting outdoor play for children and since 2007 Dronfield RUFC has developed a programme to expand its junior team by starting up mini squads. Year on year, since 2007 a new mini squad has been added, so there are now 3 in total, under 7’s, 8’s and 9’s all benefiting from the new Timberplay sponsored training t-shirt.

Commenting Paul Collings, MD at Timberplay says, “The sponsorship fits in very well with Timberplay and our work encouraging play outdoors. We wanted to support the work that Dronfield RUFC is trying to do by expanding the number of mini teams, getting children across all age ranges, both boys and girls involved in outdoor play and teamwork.”

Dronfield RUFC are celebrating their 40th year this year and as part of the Gosforth Fields Sports Association in partnership with AFC Dronfield and Dronfield Town, they are moving into a new state of the art facility at Gosforth Fields in Dronfield. The £2.3 million project has a new 8 changing room club house, a full sized 3rd Generation Artificial Grass Football Pitch with Floodlights and a comprehensive upgrading of grass pitches.

Russell Wing is one of the coaches for the mini teams and is thrilled to receive the Timberplay sponsorship. “We have a long term plan here at Dronfield RUFC with our minis and the sponsorship from Timberplay will support that. We started the mini teams in 2007 so that we can grow this year on year and once again offer junior rugby for all ages. It is reassuring that a local company like Timberplay have offered this sponsorship, as we consider our grass roots to be very much within the local community although we have long term national objectives. We are a community sporting organisation, successfully working for 40 years to offer sporting opportunities to children. With our new facilities we anticipate that interest will grow and hope that more local companies like Timberplay will come forward and offer their support.”
