Dronfield Physiotherapy Clinic, established in 1992 is headed up by Claire Miller MCSP/SRP.

She provides specialised assessment and treatment for patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.  There are three main areas:

1. Spinal Disorders
2. Peripheral Joint Disorders
3. Sports Injuries

Physiotherapy for all the above areas consists of an initial 45 minutes assessment, whereby a diagnosis and treatment plan is established.  Following this, a further appointment is arranged to meet the convenience of the patient.

The length of a course of treatment varies according to the nature and history of the patient's present condition.  Sometimes patients only require advice, while others require further treatment.

Electrotherapy

EXERCISE

Advice is given on specific exercises to enable a complete functional recovery.  Handouts are issued to patients to reinforce the advice given. 

Individual exercise programs are constructed and the emphasis is strongly on progressive exercise.

EDUCATION

This enables the patients to understand their condition and consequently the emphasis is on either prevention of future episodes of the same problem, or gaining the ability to manage the symptoms better.

REFERRALS

To ensure the best possible patient care the follow system is provided:

1 URGENT cases can be referred by telephoning the clinic.  This will enable the patient to be seen on the same working day.  These patients are usually those who are in severe pain from a recent trauma or from a worsening condition.

2. The clinic endeavours to see both ACUTE AND CHRONIC CASES within 7 days.

3. DOMICILIARY VISITS - this service provides for those patients who, due to their condition, are unable to attend the surgery.  It is especially helpful for the elderly or disabled.

COMMUNICATION

Good communication between physiotherapist and general practitioner is essential in order to provide a high quality service.  Close contact will be made with the patient's doctor throughout the course of treatment and a full report will be issued on discharge.

THE CLINIC

There are ample FREE PARKING facilities within the pleasant grounds of the clinic.  WHEELCHAIR ACCESS is catered for by the fact that the entire clinic is situated at ground level.

The surgery is spacious and it is furnished with a wide range of modern physiotherapy equipment.  All of the equipment meets safety standards and is regularly maintained. 

There is a very pleasant waiting area with comfortable seating and a range of health literature.

TOILET AND SHOWER facilities are also provided.
