Dronfield Light Opera Group

We are a local light opera group in the Dronfield area of North East Derbyshire. We usually produce three shows a year, in January, May and October. Our usual venue is the Dronfield Civic Hall. We meet twice a week for rehearsals, on Monday evening (at the Civic Hall) and Wednesday evening (at the nearby Peel Centre), and, as we get nearer to a show, on some Sunday afternoons.

If you are interested in joining us, please phone Alan Powell, on (01246) 415679. We are keen to attract new members in all vocal sections (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). After a very simple singing test, our Musical Director will ensure that you are placed in the best section for your voice. Currently there are 40-50 active singing members, each of whom pays an annual subscription of £20 each January.

Our Technical Team copes with all the requirements of the Group - scenery building, sound, lighting, special effects etc, as well as offering help and advice to other local groups and schools.

The activities of the Group are overseen by the Executive Committee which meets every six weeks and is subject to re-election at the AGM held in June. The present Committee members are as follows:
