Details

Founded in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, the 'Ancient Free School of Dronfield' has evolved over the last 500 years, to become a forward thinking and dynamic comprehensive school, firmly rooted in the heart of the Dronfield community.

Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School is a large 11-18 mixed Specialist Technology College. The school has extensive facilities with a sports hall, full-sized floodlit astroturf, dining facilities and a full range of classrooms, laboratories, workshops and assembly halls. The school has a range of beautiful new buildings with state of the art science, technology and art facilities, a drama studio, hall with sophisticated sound and satellite TV broadcasting facilities and bright and cheerful fast-food diner.

With around 1980 students on roll and over 250 teaching and support staff, Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School is one of the largest schools in the area and, as a result, can offer a wide and varied curriculum at all levels. Key Stage 3 pupils have a range of technology courses, drama, a variety of sports and a choice of modern foreign languages to enhance their curriculum. At Key Stage 4 we offer a wide range of GCSE options, ICT and Vocational courses. Virtually all of our students will take at least 9, and often 10, GCSE examinations.

We are particularly proud of the very wide range of Post-16 courses we offer. With over 300 students in our Post-16 section we are small enough to support every student as an individual, yet large enough to offer a comprehensive range of A-Levels and AVCE courses. Whether it is A-Level Psychology or AVCE Leisure & Recreation, we have the course for you!
