DRONFIELD AGAINST INCINERATION CAMPAIGN NEWS

DRONFIELD AGAINST INCINERATION CAMPAIGN NEWS
Momentum is building rapidly amongst residents in Dronfield and Chesterfield for planning of an incinerator on the Sheepbridge Resource Park site to be refused.  The company "Cyclamax" is a new breed of unheard of incinerator companies.  They are planning 17 incinerators in the UK with no evidence they are safe.

The following extract is taken from the official campaign website www.againstincineration.org.uk:

"Should you reside or work downward of the proposed Sheepbridge Resource Park site, note it can be passed by the council, subject to agreement by the public health director and the Environment Agency. Note that incineration of waste causes a shortening of lifespan of up to 14 years (seen in Coventry), often in the prime of life by increasing a range of diseases especially heart attacks & cancers. A university led study in Belgium detailed diseases and deaths caused during years 1-5 , 6-10 and 11-20 ending up with a 480% rise in cancer incidence on top of the country’s rise, yet that St Niklaas Incinerator was operating under the EC 2000 directive, as is the proposal. The proposed chimney will spread the damage up to 5 miles depending on weather conditions including Chesterfield, Dronfield, Staveley, Brimington, Arkwright & intervening villages. The proposal appears to deal with hazardous and residual waste in 3 gasification plants each with a 3-foot wide flue. The temperature has been quoted as 850C but that waste needs over 1250C and the system appears unsafe like incinerators."

An incinerator by the same company, "Cyclamax" sited at Spondon in Derby prompted the following reaction from an angry Spondon resident on Facebook:

"Spondon residents have been misled by media and councillors into believing the incinerator burning plastics, toxic waste and nuclear waste/that it was going on Raynesway industrial park /the exact location is opposite the anglers arms behind the allotments in celanese - we've been conned .Professor Howard, top pathologist on incineration claims no filteration will stop particles going into atmosphere - they are cancerous, and no child should be born within 5 kilometers of it - they have 50% chance of cancer.  All this has been kept from the public by the media - they print only one story its on Raynesway".

It seems clear from the numerous reports submitted by scientists on the proposed incinerator, that there is not enough evidence to guarantee that toxins emitted into the atmosphere will be without consequence to our health, and particularly that of our children and unborn babies.

To read detailed reports on the health dangers of the proposed incinerator by The British Society for Ecological Medicine (BSEM), and other professional bodies, click on the following link http://www.againstincineration.org.uk/?cat=8 - if these reports don't spell it out for you then nothing will.  They are brutal with the facts.

The bottom line is that we need to act now to prevent this from happening, rather than live with the regret that we could have done something - and didn't.!!!!

Log on to Dronfield Online for details of the next meeting - tbc - have your say on the forum, and join us for a protest raleigh to get our voices heard to the people who can do something about it.  Dates will be published imminently.
