David & Lisa Craven set up their greengrocery business on Barnard Avenue 22 years ago as a stepping stone to opening a high-street store shortly after - however, they quickly realised that there was no better place to be, and they are well and truly established as Coal Aston's premier providers of the highest quality fruit and vegetables to local customers throughout Dronfield and its surrounding areas.

You could say there is greengrocery in David's blood, having grown up surrounded by fruit & veg in his father's business, he served his apprenticeship with his dad before going it on his own to carry on the family tradition.

David's day begins at 2am where he goes to market to choose only the freshest and tastiest produce to ensure customer satisfaction.  Customers can really taste the difference and once they have bought from David J. they quickly become loyal and regular customers.  

On entering the shop you can be certain of a friendly welcome from all members of staff, and David is regularly on hand to offer advice on his produce. 

In addition to fresh fruit and vegetables, David stocks an excellent range of organic nuts, pulses, oils, sauces and snacks with priority emphasis on healthy eating.  His speciality oils include a range of organic vinegars such as Balsamic, Champagne, and Basil, as well as Garlic oil, Lime oil, Lemongrass & Chilli oil - all fantastic for drizzling on salads or adding to stir-frys and meats.  Other produce includes speciality jams, chutneys and pickles.

In summer months the outside is a wonderful array of flowers, bedding plants and hanging baskets for the keen gardner.

By contrast in winter, there is a wonderful range of Nordman spruce Christmas trees, holly wreaths and festive flowers.

With David's expertise and knowledge in his field, he is always happy to pass it on to his customers.

David and Lisa's philosophy on their business is to offer produce of only the highest quality and freshness for the best value for money - basically to quote "we will only serve and sell what we would happily eat ourselves".
