Owner of Curious Cleo, Becky Shields, is only too aware of the demand for vintage clothing, particularly in today's society where there is an increasing interest in environmental sustainability in terms of reusing, recycling and repairing, rather than simply throwing things away.

It is a well known fact that vintage clothing was made to be worn for years and passed on to other family members, so garments were made from robust materials, well cut and well made, with generous seam allowances and hems to allow for alterations and custom fit. And attention to detail was key in the hand finishing of garments, unusual buttons, hand embroidery and lace etc.

And not least, vintage clothing has traditionally been the favourite of creative personalities and celebrities because it offers an enormously wide range of imaginative styles.  These include Julia Roberts, Tracey Ullman, Drew Barrymore and Nicole Kidman to name a few.
