Coffee Central is certainly the place to be seen for the day-time customers who enjoy their fix of good quality coffee, where you can sit in the window and read the papers and watch the world go by, or go Al-fresco in the beautiful courtyard at the rear, surrounded by exotic plants and flowers. There is also additional seating upstairs.

Melanie Watts, with the help of lovely mum, Doreen, took over the coffee shop on the high street in Dronfield, after a number of years working as a qualified caterer. Born in Sheffield, Melanie gained her qualifications at Granville College and then worked for several years down south before moving back to Sheffield, where she worked at Seasons in Totley and S17 in Bradway, and eventually settled in Dronfield.

As you walk through the door you are greeted with lovely clean lines and shining utensils in a lovely warm atmosphere, and not to mention of course the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and home cooking.

There is a fantastic range of speciality coffees to choose from, including an array of indulgent syrups to try from Amaretto, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Toffee Crunch, and Gingerbread.

All the food is cooked on the premises with and ranges from light snacks, crispy baguettes and paninis to jacket potatoes and home-made quiche - not forgetting the little ones, where a snack can be prepared to your child's taste.

Daily specials are available and include dishes such as crayfish tails in a sweet chilli dressing, and Austrian smoked cheese & tomato quiche.

No good coffee shop would be complete without a range of excellent quality home-made baking, Coffee Central is no exception. Melanie's home baked speciality scones are causing a bit of a stir with flavours including fruit, apricot, banana & cherry and banana & walnut.

Parties can be catered for - birthdays and weddings etc with 3 courses available to a minimum of 15 people. For busy workers with limited time, orders can be phoned through to be collected.

Every 5 - 6 weeks Melanie will host a Bistro night by candlelight with a menu of mouthwatering dishes - you can bring your own wine - keep a check on the What's On Guide for details of the next one - and if you go - don't forget to drop us a line in the news section of Dronfield Online!
