Scouting has been active in Dronfield since 1 October 1925, 18 years after Baden-Powell organised the first scout camp on Brownsea Island in August 1907. Originally Dronfield was part of the Chesterfield District but in 1975 became a district in its own right. The movement may have changed a good deal since those days, but the core values it instils in youngsters are still the same today as they were then; community, friendship, and a love of the great outdoors.

Scouting has always been popular in our area; at one time or another, units were in existence serving the youngsters of Dronfield, Unstone, Holmesfield, Barlow, Renishaw, Eckington and Marsh Lane. Today there are 6 groups with 23 units of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers comprising 440 young people up to the age of 18 years (349 male and 91 female).

Please come along to the gala in June and help celebrate a fantastic part of young people’s lives in our community.
